SHIATSU

A form of Japanese bodywork rooted in Chinese medicinal theory, Shiatsu seeks to adjust the flow of Qi and blood within the meridian system by using joint mobilizations, gentle stretches and skillfully applied pressure. Indeed, the literal meaning of Shiatsu is ‘Finger Pressure’, but the palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and even feet are used in a session.

Shiatsu was traditionally performed with the receiver fully clothed lying on a futon on the floor. However, this treatment has been adapted to the massage table. Please wear loose comfortable clothing for this session. No denim!

Neurokinetic therapy®

These sessions seek to address a specific issue – pain, injury, limited range of motion and so forth. Movement assessments and palpation are combined with manual muscle testing protocols to determine the principle body structures involved. These affected structures can then be treated to alleviate pain, restore motion and ease movement.

Self-care instructions are given to cement the changes and aid faster recovery! Read more about Neurokinetic Therapy here.
